![]() What a wonderful way to complete my life as a teenager…as Miss Butte County 2011-2012. It has been an honor to represent my favorite fair three different years…in 2008 as Miss Teen Butte County Congeniality, in 2009 as Miss Teen Butte County and now with my current title. Holding a title opens many doors that you might not necessarily have opened for you. Our visits each year to our beautiful State Capitol were inspiring and educational. Senator Doug LaMalfa and Assemblyman Jim Nielsen dropped what they were doing to take us on a tour and let us see, sit, and stand places where most people don’t get to go. And literally you will have doors opened for you as you enter buildings when in crown and sash that might not have been opened without! Parades and Visiting Royalty are a lot of fun and we represent our Butte County Fair and the MBCSP well, but it is the real community service activities where we get to work and give back to this wonderful community that means the most to me. Some of the most rewarding activities have been The Giving Tree, Make A Difference Day, MBCSP Canned Food Drive, Work Training Center Dinners, Lion’s Club Easter Egg Hunts and Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Yes, it requires a lot of time and effort when you hold a title and I couldn’t represent this program without tremendous support from the fair, the directors, the court members and my family and friends. This experience will stay with me my entire adult life and has molded me into the person I am today.
The night I was crowned Miss Teen Butte County is a night that will be imprinted in my memory forever, but competition night is not the only impression left from this past year. All year long I had the opportunity to meet many wonderful Butte County citizens and see the wonderful events Butte County has to offer. I have grown so much throughout the year and gained a lifetime of experience. I was honored when I was crowned Miss Teen and I had no idea about all the places I would be able to help and visit; not only in Chico but all of Butte County! This has been life changing for me and if you have never done a competition like this before, you have NOTHING to worry about. I remember being the new girl (which was last year! If I can win a title my first year, SO CAN YOU!) And after all the hard work and dedication, it paid off. I am Miss Teen Butte County 2011-2012 and I invite all girls to join the great experience of the competition, meeting new friends, building self-confidence, and learning how to make our county a better place. Remember that it’s not about the crown.
Being crowned at Missette Butte County was a dream come true. I was able to share my life, my goals, and my successes and earned a title that most girls would love ! I have been able to help in my community, and am finding that it doesn't matter the job - it's the joy of helping others that makes it special. I have seen the joy on little kids face when I handed them balloons, and lollypops - but I have been on the receiving end by standing on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol with Senator Doug LaMalfa. What a year it's been - and I can't wait for the the upcoming special Olympics ! Miss Butte County Candidates Alyssa Belser Brittany Davis Emelie Maguire
